British Superbikes - Donnington Park, September 2025

I took my son to British Superbikes at Donington Park for the weekend in the campervan. Despite some ominous clouds on Sunday, followed by a brief shower, we mostly had great weather all weekend. With a total of eighteen races across the weekend we were treated to some fantastic action on track and, as always, the atmosphere really tops things off.

Many years ago I was accredited photographer covering the series (and you can see examples of my work in this slideshow on YouTube) but nowadays I just grab a few pictures while I'm wandering around, which you can see below.

Bloxham Steam and Country Fair 2025

Every year Bloxham Steam and Country Fair throws up a great mixture of classic vehicles and this year was no different: everything from a wide range of steam engines, to military vehicles, trucks, cars and motorcycles.

Below is a highlights video and gallery from the event.

Silverstone Museum

A quick look around the motorsport element of Silverstone Museum. Claiming the title of the home of British motorsport, Silverstone circuit has a rich history, having hosted the British round of Formula 1 and MotoGP for many years.

Here in the museum, situated near the circuit's main entrance, there's a fine mix of motorsport vehicles from down the years.

Below you'll find a highlights video and gallery.

Kingsley Cafe Bike Night - 30th August 2024

Another trip to Kingsley Cafe for their Friday Bike Night. A good number of bikes turned up and I was particularly taken by the MV Agusta. Lovely bike! I didn't take too many pictures but you can check out the ones I did below.

Kingsley Cafe "All Things 80s" Retro Car Meet - 16th June 2024

A retro '80s themed car and motorcycle meeting at Kingsley Cafe. As well as some cars from the 1980s there was a decent selection of newer vehicles on display too - of both the four and two wheeled variety. It's been a while since I've seen a Sierra XR4x4 and I've always got time for a Lotus Esprit but the modified VW Golf was certainly the most interesting car in attendance.

See below for my highlights video and gallery of pictures.

Isle of Man TT 2024 Non-Racing Gallery

A selection of my non-racing photographs from the Isle of Man TT. Here are some of the bikes (and cars) in attendance on the island, together with some of the makeshift garages and general scenery.

You can find my racing photographs (and highlights video) here.

Isle of Man TT Racing 2024

Below is my highlights video and gallery from an exceptional week spent at the Isle of Man watching the 2024 TT races. If you've never been to see them live you'll be utterly blown away by the skill and commitment of the riders, who reach speeds in excess of 200mph on normal, bumpy public roads.

On a circuit which is more than 37 miles in length, with every type of corner imaginable, the lap record speed is an average of 136.358mph.

Motorcycle Racing Photography Part 1 - The Action, Drama and Glamour

466 images presented in a slideshow format from my three seasons working as a photographer in the British Superbike, World Superbike and MotoGP Championships (2007-2009 inclusive). This is the first of a planned series of videos and you'll find pictures of racing action, dramatic accidents and crashes, behind the scenes shot and, of course, the glamourous grid girls.

Motorbike racing's biggest stars appear, with the likes of Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa, James Toseland, Peter Hickman, Shane Byrne, James Hillier, Troy Bayliss, Troy Corser, Guy Martin, Cal Crutchlow, Jonathan Rea, Michael Rutter, John McGuinness (and many more) all making appearances.

None of the riders shown crashing sustained serious injuries.

Lakeside Motor Museum

On a family weekend in the Lake District (north west England) we made an impromptu stop at the Lakeside Motor Museum. It turned out to be a diversion well worth taking.

There's a good variety of vehicles displayed, from vintage cars and vans through to rare sports cars and a stand dedicated to Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness.

There's also a room dedicated to Donald and Malcolm Campbell and their land speed record attempts and vehicles.

Grass Track Racing at Dalton Barracks - 30th April 2023

A fun day out watching some grass track racing at Dalton Barracks in Abingdon. There was some good, close racing and lots of flying mud. The rain just about managed to stay away too, which is always a bonus.

Check out my gallery of pictures below.

The Best of 2021

A quick car and motorcycle highlights video from 2021 (not helped by various restrictions placed upon us).

I'm hoping for a better year in 2022 and I already have big plans for a group road trip down to the Alps while ramping the road tests back up. Stay tuned!

Motorcycle Live 2021

Below you'll find my highlights video and gallery from 2021's Motorcycle Live show, held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. It seemed smaller than previous shows but there were still plenty of things to grab the attention.

BMW S 1000 XR Review

My review of BMW's S 1000 XR motorcycle. This is the first generation model, which ran from 2015-2019 before it gained some relatively minor improvements and modifications. In looking at this bike I was particulary interested in how it would compare to my own bike, one its rivals, the Ducati Multistrada (which I also recently reviewed).

Ducati Multistrada 1200 S: Owner's Review

I've owned this 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 S for nearly three years and I thought it well overdue that I share my thoughts about it here. In this video I talk through its specification, its many 'pros' and a few 'cons'.

I also reference riding from England to Norway (and back) in the video: 2020 miles in 8 days. If you're interested in seeing more of that, including route maps and a gallery, click here

2021 Honda Forza 750 (NSS750) Review

The Forza range is brand new for 2021 and Honda bills the Forza 750 as a "GT scooter" and to help achieve its aim they've given it decent suspension, brakes and a 745cc engine. Could it be a masterstroke in combining the practicalities and ease of use of a scooter with a capabilities of a traditional motorcycle? I've taken a look to find out.

Analysing My Motorcycle Crash

A number of years ago, I was on a motorcycle track day at Rockingham circuit in Northamptonshire. By this point I'd done around twenty days on track so I certainly wasn't a novice... although I certainly rode like one in the lead up to the accident I'm about to show you.

What you'll see in the video below is me messing up the entry to the corner, miss the apex and then apply too much throttle on the exit... with disastrous results.

I'm grateful, at least, that I had a camera on the bike because the resulting blow I took to the head led to amnesia and me losing the couple of days leading up to accident. Even now, years later, I cannot remember a thing about it. My first memories of the incident are leaving hospital.

2020/21 Ducati Monster 1200 S First Impressions

After spending a few hours with the Ducati Monster 1200 S, here are my initial thoughts on the Italian company's big naked bike. What's it like to ride and is the addition of Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes worth the significant £3,000 premium over the non-S model?
